
La
Tayuela
de
Mecer
is
a
cultural
association
with
the
basical
vocation
of
promoting
and
spreading
the
musical
tradition
concerning
to
the
asturian
bagpipe.
Our
Pipe
Band
has
its
residence
in
Madrid,
and
plays
a
large
repertoire
of
tunes,
inspired
most
of
them
in
folk
music
from
Asturias
and
Cantabria.
Our
clothes
are
based
on
very
detailed,
fine,
traditional
patterns
and
our
concerts
and
«
pasucáis
»
(parades)
are
filled
with
moments
of
absolute
solemnity.
The
musical
arrangements,
both
pipes
and
drumming,
have
been
specially
conceived
to
result
attractive
and
spectacular
in
all
our
performances.
The
band
director,
Juan
Oliver,
has
obtained
in
his
short
career
as
pipe
solo
player
many
important
successes,
such
as
finalist
at
«
Concurso
Campoamor
́99
»,
4th
at
«
Memorial
Remis
Ovalle
2000
»,
finalist
at
«
The
Macallan
Trophy
2000
»
or
winner
at
«
Memorial
Manolo
Quirós
»,
etc..
In
spite
of
the
short
period
of
time
that
has
passed
after
its
foundation
in
1999,
La
Tayuela
de
Mecer
has
contributed
to
keep
alive
the
asturian
musical
tradition
inside
and
outside
Asturias
natural
